Extreme Wave Analysis for the Dubai Coast

This paper aims to present the result of commonly used extreme wave analysis distribution methods applied a long-term hindcast at point in Arabian Gulf near coastline Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The data were hindcasted for total period 40 years, starting from 1 January 1979 31 December 2018. support design, repair, and maintenance coastal structures Dubai coast. A 2.5 m threshold is selected using Peak Over Threshold method filter storm analysis. Different are this such as Log-normal, Gumbel, Weibull, Exponential, Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD). significant heights predicted different return periods. GPD appears fit best compared other methods. Many projects being planned coastline. Hence, presented would be useful designing safe efficiently designed projects.
